StudioSW Identity

How do you actually brand yourself and your own design studio? I obviously treated like a usual branding project but because it’s so personal, it’s that much harder to see the work objectively. So from that perspective, it’s harder than an external project but it’s just as much fun.

I wanted to design a simple, stripped-back approach to my branding just as my clients can easily navigate and understand what I can do for them by making their brand the stand-out factor. However, I still knew I wanted to give my own brand the attention I felt it needed. I start every new identity with a sketchpad. Black pen on white grid paper so just made sense to keep my own brand just as simple and keep it black and white.

When working on a project as important as branding your own practice, I just wanted it to be simple but still create something unique and personal. I didn’t just want to write my name in a generic sans serif typeface. I wanted to create a monogram with depth but still have simplicity.

Evolve over time

As my studio evolves and matures, I do plan to build the studio’s brand comprehensively, beyond the visual identity but for the time being, I do like where I’ve started.
