Nestle Life Brand Identity
LIFE (Lactation for Infant Feeding Expertise) is a dynamic research initiative focused on the characterisation of human milk composition. LIFE also explores the association between human milk and its components with maternal health as well as nutritional status, growth and other developmental outcomes in infants. LIFE involves numerous external collaborators and key opinion leaders in the field of human milk science.
Human milk provides the key nutrients necessary for infant growth and development and a whole new identity was to be created for the initiative and to sit within the Nestle portfolio.
A new beginning
The first port of call was the logo design. I wanted to create something soft and simple but also creating a link to the milk aspect in the form of a droplet drip in the typography and work just as well across both static and animated versions.
Colours of life
The palette for LIFE was created from Nestle’s extensive corporate colour palette which is shown here. I started by picking the soft tones from baby blue to baby pink and then divided the colours into three separate areas; Lights, Brights, and Darks to create a fully flexible palette that would fit within the LIFE design system.
visual language for Life
A visual language was born and brought to life visually in a warm and approachable visual style. I created lines representing the journey that new motherhood brings from joining the dots to creating your own paths.
A warm and approachable identity
The contemporary brand identity features a bright and positive colour palette that works with a friendly and approachable typeface. I stayed clear of cliched breastfeeding imagery and developed a simple, ownable illustration and icon style that compliments the logo, and showcases the visual language by conveying the emotion of the impact that can be delivered across all LIFE design materials.
